Exhibitions, 17.04.2014

From 7th June to 23rd November 2014, the 14th International Architecture Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia – is taking place in Venice. This edition’s curator Rem Koolhaas chose ‘FUNDAMENTALS’ as a theme: “Fundamentals will be a Biennale about architecture, not architects.” ORG organization for permanent modernity is one of the U.S. based offices that will be presented in the U.S. Pavillion at the exhibition called OfficeUS.

OfficeUS responds to the theme of Absorbing Modernity: 1914-2014 by focusing on the ways in which the space, structures, and protocols of the U.S. architectural office have participated in the construction of Modernity. OfficeUS is simultaneously a repository and a laboratory of ideas and criticism in the form of an alternative architecture office.

“Taking history as its foundational ground, we envision OfficeUS not just as an exhibition, but as the first headquarters for a new model of global architectural production. In these ways, OfficeUS is an anti-exhibition, it turns the pavilion from presentation to demonstration. We are setting a stage for the architects and visitors to address and respond to the most pressing architectural anxieties of the last one hundred years,” say curators Franch i Gilabert, Miljački and Schafer. Over the 25 weeks of the Biennale, OfficeUS will revisit the projects in the archive, their premises and conclusions, to construct an agenda for the future production of architecture.
